I am concurring in discouraging any test that involves applying power to wires while control units are active, or opening up control units to clean them with solvent, which can damage sealants applied at the factory on boards, and/or components. Getting a proper scanner and learning how to use it is a long term investment that will help now and in the future, if you're planning to do your own DIYs, as more problems are just around the corner for these old cars. You have gotten suggestions of getting and learning using a proper scanner, or have a proper reading before any parts replacement. when the circuit is complete you get 60, when only half is there, you get 120. The communications are a 2 wire high/low split that is a complete circle with a resistor at each end. Any of them alone, or in combination of two or more would produce the same symptoms, so replacing any of the components blindly just based on symptoms may result in additional effort and costs of parts. It will do nothing till you get 60 ohms across 6 and 14. besides any of the smaller or larger control units interconnected and communicating among themselves for starting the engine. The corrupt eeprom you will need to replace is the ATMEL 25020.The replacement can be a 95020.I use a OBDstar X100 to clone and dump the BIN files.
